About Losa

History of losa
Moved by the continuing deterioration of the physical structures and the erosion of the values associated with Labone Secondary School, some concerned past students of the school constituted themselves into the caucus of what is now known as the Labone Old Students Association (LOSA).
The Association was formally inaugurated in August 1980 by Rev. Professor A. K. Quarcoo, one time teacher of the school with Mr. Amarkai Amarteifio as it’s first President, ably supported by an executive comprising of Mr. Livingstone Dey, Mr. Kwame Nyanor, Mr. Chris Aklamanu, Miss Getrude Tetteh, Mr. Jacob Vanderpuije and others.
The Association has made considerable achievements in it’s chequered history. Mr. Baah Nyanor donated various science equipment to the school and also supported in the rehabilitation of the Science Laboratory. Through the initiative of Mr. Chris Aklamanu then a Staff of Canadian High Commission, the business department was supported and revived by the Canadian High Commission in Accra.
The school administration along the line tasked the Association to assist in the implementation of three main projects namely -:
i) Supply of 50 Computers
ii) A multipurpose sports facility ( Tennis, Basketball, volleyball and handball
iii) English and French Language Laboratories which the Association accomplished.
In the lifespan of the Association, various projects have been undertaken, and the Association has also contributed in the supply of teaching and learning materials including computers, laptops, donation of books to the Library, equipping the various science laboratories and many others. Members of the Association can be found in various spheres of endeavor both home & abroad.
These include Medical professionals, teachers, lecturers and professors at all levels in academia, politicians, the clergy, public and civil service, the military, top class scientists in research institutions. The Association has done and continues to assist the school to bring it to a level which present and future generations would be proud of.
