Edith Dankwa is CIMG Marketing Woman of the Year 2020
Chairperson of the Business and Financial Times Group, Dr. Mrs. Edith Dankwa, has been adjudged the Marketing Woman of the Year 2020 by the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), with her media organisation also gaining recognition as the Digital Media Organisation of the year.
Arguably the most coveted recognition any woman business leader can earn in the country, the organisers bestowed on Dr. Edith Dankwa the distinguished award for the role she has played in making the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) newspaper Ghana’s most credible and leading source of business information over the past three decades.
The citation in her honour acknowledged her competence and leadership skills that have brought massive transformation in the media fraternity and further contributed to the development of the country.
“You oversaw the development of some wonderful products into the media space that have brought massive transformation to the industry, in particular, and the economic growth of Ghana in general…Human development standards, client service engagement and industry relationship management initiatives are all seen in the excellent performance that you and your team are churning out.
Your support to society cannot pass without mention, as you continue to make impact in the education sector as well as in youth and entrepreneurial development. Your contributions in the media space where your career aspirations span have added massively to the admiration the panel of evaluation have for you,” the citation stated.
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Dr. Mrs. Dankwa expressed her profound gratitude to the CIMG for the recognition of her hard work and that of the team at B&FT, saying, it will motivate her outfit to continue promoting businesses to grow the economy.

CEO of communication giant, MTN, Selorm Adadevoh was pronounced the Marketing Man of the Year; while Marketing Practioner of the Year also went to Eli Hini, CEO, Mobile Financial Services, MTN; and Erica Marfowaa Din-Chin, Key Account Manager, Apotica was adjudged Marketing Student of the Year.
Special guest of honour at the event, Mary Chinery-Hesse, Chancelor of the University of Ghana, also speaking at the ceremony, which is the 32nd edition organised by the CIMG, commended all award winners for their various diverse roles they are playing to contribute to economic development of the nation.
Commenting on theme: ‘Repositioning Ghana to Leverage AfCFTA for Economic Development’, madam Chinery-Hesse said customer service and digital marketing are two key elements that can drive the repositioning agenda, hence, businesses must form their strategies around these areas in order to be ready for the continental market.
President of CIMG, Dr. Daniel Kasser Tee, also stressed on the need for businesses to see the opportunity created by the AfCFTA pact as an incentive to increase production capacity as they now have access to a larger market.
He congratulated all award winners for their professionalism and hard work that have earned them the recognition they deserve, adding that the award should rather boost their morale to do more.
