Accra, June 27, 2026 — The Labone Old Students Association (LOSA) decade year groups ending in six, including 1966, 1976, 1986, 1996, 2006, 2016, known as “De Big 6”, officially unveiled their logo ahead of this year’s Labone Senior High School Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony at a short but significant event held at the La Palm Beach Hotel.
Addressing members at the ceremony, President Listowel Agbeli warmly welcomed attendees and called for a renewed mindset among year groups in their approach to alumni engagement and school support. He emphasized that past experiences in school, whether positive or negative, often shape the willingness of alumni to give back.
He noted that individuals responsible for unpleasant memories, such as certain teachers or administrators who are not old students, may eventually leave the institution, but students remain lifelong stakeholders of their alma mater. He therefore urged members to rise above past grievances and commit to supporting the school’s development.
The highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the logo, followed by a ceremonial cake-cutting led by the President and supported by distinguished members present.
Speaking on behalf of the organising committee, Chairperson Millicent Adjei encouraged members to actively participate in the lineup of upcoming activities, including Blema Jams, the 15th Health Walk, a Beach Party, the Speech and Prize-Giving Day, and a Thanksgiving service. She also appealed to members to contribute towards the refurbishment of the school’s dining hall, which has been earmarked as the group’s legacy project.
Adding her voice, Hon. Dr. Mrs. Gladys Norley Ashitey of the LOSA 1971 year group expressed her excitement at reconnecting with fellow alumni and proposed that individual year groups be levied to support the legacy initiative.
An appeal for funds was made to mobilize resources for both the planned activities and the legacy project.
The ceremony also featured goodwill messages from members, many of whom shared nostalgic reflections of their time at Labone Senior High School and reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to its growth.
The event marked a significant step in building momentum toward a successful Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony, while strengthening unity among LOSA members.
